E60 525i 528i 530i N52 Automatic Radiator Differences

BMW has two radiator options for E60 with automatic transmission: with or without an extra fitting for the engine oil heat exchanger. We offer them both but there's a catch: BMW has dropped one from the application guide and is retrofitting cars with the other. So your 2006-2010 525i, 528i, or 530i could have either style installed.

17117534914 - has the heat exchanger fitting (below the lower radiator hose on the right side). For some reason BMW stopped listing this radiator in their parts diagrams (although it's still available from BMW if you have the part number). We sell the OEM Behr radiator which is identical to the original BMW part and has the extra fitting. We also have the hose for this setup (11537522999). However, if your radiator was replaced by BMW or another shop they may have used the 209 part number instead (see below).

17117519209 - this does not have the heat exchanger hose fitting at all. When the 914 radiator disappeared from the parts diagrams this was its replacement. So any 525i/528i/530i that had its original 914 radiator replaced would have gotten the 209 number. In those cases BMW supplied a different hose that still ran from the heat exchanger to the water pump pipe but it did not have a third connection to the radiator (#11537519494).

The most obvious way to tell which radiator you have is to look for the fitting on the lower right side of the radiator. If that fitting is there then you have the 914 radiator. If there is no fitting here then your radiator has already been changed to the 209 part number. In either case, remember to order the correct hose for your type.

If you are retrofitting the 209 radiator in place of a 914 radiator you must also order 2 of BMW #17117520335. It's a spacer block so the thinner 209 radiator will not wiggle on its mounts.
